This time in 2 weeks New Zealanders will be getting their last sleep in before waking bright and early on the 25th of September to take part in a first of it’s kind event in NZ. Ruapuna24 will bring together all the small wheeled vehicles and let them loose on of of New Zealands Premier Racetracks. The Powerbuilt Raceway is open for 24 hours and will see a day of racing and a night of pushing all to raise money for Cholmondeley house.
The event is free and is proudly supported by a host of amazing sponsors. There will be free skateboard and inline hire thanks to the guys at Cheapskates Skateskool, a gold coin donation sausage sizzle, and the $5 MEGA raffle after the days racing.
The day’s events look something like this:
8 a.m. – The track opens to the dedicated few who are pushing the 24 hours. The track course we are using is 3.33km. (So 3 laps is pretty much 10km and 30 laps are 100km)
11.a.m. – 1 lap (3.3km) skooter and ripsick race.
12 noon – 1 lap (3.3km) rollerskate and inline race.
1 p.m. – 1 lap (3.3) skateboard and longboard race.
3 p.m. – Prizegiving for the races followed by the MEGA Raffle. Throughout the day $5 tickets will be being sold with a huge amount of amazing prizes to win. Simply buy a ticket on the day for $5 and if your number is pulled out the hat, choose your prize from the pile until all the prizes are gone.
After that the pushing continues into the night!
