The 1st Longboard Stage Race, ever!

This is no cruise in the park, but a greuling 3 day, 180m (289km) longboarding stage race, which will also raise money for Charity : water. Aptly named the The Chief Ladiga Silver Comet Sk8 Challenge 2011 the race is  designed on the same platform as a bicycle stage race like the Tour de France. Participants will be racing both for daily and for the overall best time.

The race is taking place on the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Bike Trail and is organised by Skatefurther’s Marion Spears Karr:

20th May – Day 1: Smyrna, Ga to Rockmart, Ga. approx. 40 miles
21st May -1 Day 2: Rockmart, Ga to Weaverville, Al approx. 50 miles
22nd May – Day 3: Weaverville, Al to Smyrna, Ga 94 miles

Amongst those to watch, is Jeff Vyain, the winner of the 2010 Adrenalina skateboard Marathon. More info on the event here and here. Best of luck to all who are taking part!
